Bangladesh hammer Netherlands in 1st T20I with biggest win at home in 10 years

Bangladesh kicked off their Asia Cup preparations in style, thumping the Netherlands by eight wickets in the first T20I in Sylhet on Saturday. The Tigers wrapped up the contest with 39 balls to spare — their biggest T20I home win by balls remaining in a decade, second only to their 48-ball triumph over Afghanistan at the 2014 T20 World Cup in Dhaka.

The night belonged to Litton Das with the bat and Taskin Ahmed with the ball. Taskin gave Bangladesh the perfect start after Scott Edwards chose to bat. Bowling with pace and accuracy, he tore through the Dutch top order, dismissing Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Noah Croes, and Kyle Klein to finish with 4 for 28.

Mustafizur Rahman was miserly, conceding only 19 in his four overs and adding a wicket, while Saif Hassan struck twice. The Netherlands kept losing wickets and never gained momentum. Litton Das takes Bangladesh home

Chasing 137, Bangladesh made it look easy. Litton, captaining the side, led from the front with a sparkling half-century off just 26 balls. Driving and lofting freely, he struck six fours and two sixes in a fluent 54 not out from 29 balls. Tanzid Hasan Tamim added a quick 29 before departing, but the hosts were already cruising.

Saif Hassan finished the job in style, smashing 36 not out from only 19 balls with three towering sixes. His 46-run stand with Litton off just 23 balls wrapped up the chase in 13.3 overs.

For the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt and Tim Pringle took a wicket each, but their bowling looked ineffective against Bangladesh’s aggression.

With this emphatic victory, Bangladesh went 1-0 up in the series and showed their intent ahead of tougher contests. Litton’s blazing knock and Taskin’s fiery spell stood out as the highlights of a landmark home triumph.
