The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league starting in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
GCA Secretary Anil Patel confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz, stating that the association is still working to identify an appropriate window for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other crucial details are yet to be finalized.
The proliferation of domestic T20 leagues across India has created valuable scouting opportunities for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have all emerged as platforms for showcasing local talent, offering players a pathway to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
