Rain interruptions affected both the morning and afternoon sessions. This limited play. When the play restarted, scoring remained difficult as the West Indies bowlers found assistance from the deteriorating pitch.

Justin Greaves dismissed both Smith and Beau Webster in quick succession. Smith's LBW dismissal was upheld on review. Greaves finished with two wickets. Shamar Joseph also took the important wicket of Travis Head.

At stumps, Alex Carey remained unbeaten on 26 off 27 balls, alongside captain Pat Cummins on 4. Australia aims for a lead of 300, and the pitch is showing increased deterioration. Smith expressed optimism about their chances.

"We are in a nice spot," he said. "I don't think the wicket is going to get any better. It will probably do a few more tricks. The new ball is going to be pretty crucial for us."
